epa02272015 A burnt area is seen very close to the houses in Marathokambos village, Samos Island, eastern Greece, on 03 August 2010, one day after a wildfire broke out in the area. A fire which broke out on Monday at the area of Kakoperato on Samos island is partly under control. According to first estimations the blaze burned 2,500 acres of farm expanse and forestland. The fire came close to residential areas at Votsalakia settlement. The Samos prefect on Tuesday lifted the state of emergency on the island and the tourists returned safely to their holiday resorts.
