epa01560960 Former Swiss Mathematician Professor Alain Schaerlig presents the book 'Arithmeticae Logisticae Popularis Libri IIII' written 1619 by the Bernois patrician Johann Rudolff von Graffenried, during a press conference at the History of Science Museum in Geneva, Switzerland, 26 November 2008. Schaerlig has discovered this arithmetic book two years ago on a flea market in Geneva. The rare book, a true sum of the arithmetic knowledge of its epoch, was unknown for specialists before.
